Four-year letterman Mike Stackus was just one of the five individual golfers selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Championship in 2005, as St. John Fisher College was represented for the first time in the national competition. He then led the Cardinals to their first team appearance the next year. Stackus finished 49th in the 2005 NCAAs and was Fisher’s top finisher in 2006, placing 60th.

Following his individual NCAA appearance, Stackus was named a Third Team All-American by GCAA. In his four-year career, he was also a two-time Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team selection, a four-time All-Conference player and the Empire 8 Player of the Year.

Stackus is among the golf program’s most decorated players with eight career wins after competing in 43 tournaments. He ranks seventh on the all-time list holding a 76.71 average score over 81.5 rounds.

After earning his degree in sport studies in 2006, Stackus turned pro and played in various golf tournaments while working as a club professional in the Rochester area and serving as an assistant coach under Bob Simms until 2009.
