A four-year letter winner on the men’s basketball team, Matt Comerford ranks among the program’s elite scorers, finishing his career with 1,009 career points, which ranked ninth all-time upon his graduation.

During his tenure, Comerford helped lead the Cardinals to an 84-21 overall record (80.0% winning mark) from 1996-2000 including three straight trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament where Comerford averaged 14.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while also compiling a team-best 70 assists and 32 steals.

Comerford, one of the most decorated players in Wendy’s College Classic history, set a title-game record with 37 points and was named Most Valuable Player as the 6th seeded Cardinals claimed a win over Roberts-Wesleyan in the Championship game. 

In 12 Classic contests, Comerford averaged 12.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game earning him a 2012 induction into the tournament’s Hall of Fame.  He was also voted to the 25-player Men’s Classic 40th Anniversary Team.

He averaged a team-high 16.8 points per game in his senior year to go along with 1.4 steals per contest. The shooting guard ranked ninth in career three-point field goals with 78 upon graduation.

A Rochester Area College Athletics First-Team selection, Comerford was also named to the Empire 8 All-Conference team in the same year.
