Whether it is on the field, in the classroom, or in the community, Fisher student-athletes, coaches and administrators support the highest ideals in sportsmanship.
We appreciate the support of our fans who wish to create an atmosphere of competition that allows our participants to showcase the game and their respective skills in a positive manner.
Good, Smart and Talented Student Athletes
St. John Fisher University student-athletes who violate team policies, college regulations, the Student Code of Conduct, or NCAA and Conference rules may face disciplinary action. Depending on the severity of the violation, consequences may include, but are not limited to, an official reprimand, suspension from practices and competitions, or the permanent loss of the privilege to play intercollegiate sports for the university.
The Director of Athletics and Recreation or the Associate Director of Athletics will investigate any alleged disciplinary violations and may convene a review with the Athletic Disciplinary Committee if necessary. Athletic department investigations happen internally, and any imposed athletic sanctions are separate from—and in addition to—the University's Student Conduct process. For a complete overview of these policies, please consult the St. John Fisher University Student Code of Conduct (
https://www.sjf.edu/student-life/student-conduct/student-code-of-conduct/).
Head coaches hold the direct authority to manage and regulate conduct matters within their specific sports programs. This authority must align with the mission of the University, the Division of Student Affairs and Student Engagement and Leadership, athletic department procedures, and the governing rules of the NCAA, Empire 8, or other sport-specific organizations.
To maintain clear standards, each coach will establish written Team Guidelines before the season begins (or whenever updates occur). These guidelines must fit within the universal framework of the St. John Fisher University Student Code of Conduct and must be submitted to the Director of Athletics and Recreation or their authorized designee.
Any infractions involving NCAA Rules and Regulations will be handled directly by the Director of Athletics and Recreation or their designee, who will consult with the NCAA or Conference offices to determine the appropriate response.
