St. John Fisher University Athletics Hall of Fame
The St. John Fisher College’s women’s basketball program ranks as the winningest program in NCAA Division III. And while there have been many great individuals over the program’s 33-year history, few players have enjoyed a greater career than Michelle Skovrinski. Skovrinski established herself as a premier player in the low post and finished her career with over 800 rebounds, the third-highest career total in Fisher history, while ranking among the program’s all-time leaders in scoring with 1,130 points. A Rochester Sports Women of the Year finalist in 1992, Skovrinski was named as the ECAC Rookie of the Year as a freshman. As a sophomore, she was named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team, pacing the Cardinals to a runner-up finish in the national title game. In her junior season, Skovrinski averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting 52% from the floor, and was named as the MVP in three tournaments, including the state championship. As a senior, Skovrinski averaged 14 points and eight rebounds and led the Cardinals to the NCAA Tournament yet again. Fisher finished the season with a 22-4 record, bringing her team’s record to an amazing 108 wins and just 12 losses. Michelle graduated from Fisher in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
