Jerry DeHey finished his collegiate career as one of the greatest wrestlers in St. John Fisher College history.

DeHey wrestled at 118 and 126 pounds throughout his collegiate career. As a freshman, he led the Cardinals to their first winning season, earning All-State and team MVP honors.

In his sophomore season, DeHey was the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Queens Invitational, earning a win over an Olympian in the championship match. That season, Fisher won its first 10 matches and climbed to 10th in the East Coast and finished the year with a 10-1 overall record.

In his junior and senior seasons, DeHey went undefeated in dual meet action, and during his entire collegiate career he enjoyed a perfect 22-0 record when grappling in the friendly confines of Fisher’s Varsity Gym.

A Brockport native, DeHey graduated from Fisher in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. He and his wife Kip are the proud parents of three children.
