St. John Fisher University Athletics Hall of Fame
A two-time All-American, Gene Lang ’07 was named to the Third-Team All-Decade Team by D3football.com at the conclusion of his career at linebacker. He was also named a preseason All-American in 2006.
At the time of his induction, Lang ranked third all-time in total tackles with 325. On the single season list, he ranks both second and third all-time in tackles with 147 and 143, respectively. He was tied for fourth all-time on the single season list having forced three fumbles and was tied for second with four fumble recoveries during the 2006 campaign.
Lang was a two-time First-Team All-Conference selection by the Empire 8 and was named the Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 – the conference’s first-ever player to earn that award. Furthermore, he was named All East Region by D3football.com twice and went on to be named the 2006 Don Hansen Gazette Linebacker of the Year.
