St. John Fisher University Athletics Hall of Fame
Bobby Wanzer became St. John Fisher College’s first men’s basketball head coach in 1962 and led the Cardinals to an overall record of 311-239. During his 24 years of coaching at Fisher, he had 15 winning seasons. In 1987, Coach Wanzer was inducted into the National Basketball Association Hall of Fame. He was a six-time NBA All-Star with the Rochester Royals from 1947-55 and the League’s Most Valuable Player in 1953. He finished among the NBA’s top 10 in field goal percentage four times and free-throw percentage five times. Coach Wanzer served as Fisher’s men’s athletic director and coached the College’s golf team.
