St. John Fisher University Athletics

Emma Savas (Roy C. Ketcham/Poughkeepsie) of the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week after leading the No. 5 Cardinals to a sweep of The University of Pittsburgh-Bradford on Sunday.

In two games, Savas went 4-for-5 at the plate with four runs scored, three RBI, two triples and a double.  She was 3-for-3 at the dish in the opening game with a pair of three-base knocks before going 1-for-2 with a walk in the nightcap.

For the season, Savas is hitting .433 (13-for-30) with nine runs batted in and eight runs scored.

Softball returns to action at 3 p.m. on Wednesday when it opens the home portion of its schedule against Clarkson University in a non-conference doubleheader at the Softball Complex.
