St. John Fisher College has named senior #Alyssa Ziobrowski# of the volleyball team as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 14, 2008.
Ziobrowski led the Cardinals to a win over Buffalo State College on Tuesday, and paced the team to a sixth-place finish in the 20th annual Rochester Institute of Technology Volleyball Invitational. Over the five matches, the senior outside hitter totaled a team-best 57 kills on 153 attempts (.235 attack percentage), and ranked second on the squad with 72 digs and 15 blocks in 19 total games played.
Ziobrowski opened the week with 12 defensive digs and 10 kills in a 4-1 win over host Buffalo State College in the Bengals’ season opener. In Friday’s match against SUNY Geneseo, a 4-1 win for the Cardinals, she recorded a season-high 20 digs, and added 12 kills and four blocks.
On the final day of the Invitational, Ziobrowski responded with a season-high 18 kills on 39 attempts (.385 attack percentage) and 18 digs to lift Fisher to a 4-1 win over Empire 8-rival Ithaca College. She had another impressive outing against SUNY Fredonia with 17 digs, and 15 kills in a 3-0 loss to conclude the week.
On the year, Ziobrowski leads the team with 129 kills, ranks second on the team with 137 digs, and holds third place on the squad with 31 blocks (seven solo).
Fisher (6-5 overall) will return to action on Tuesday to take on SUNY Oswego.
