St. John Fisher College has named #Luke Lennox# of the men’s soccer team as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 19, 2008.
In a 1-0-1 week for the Cardinals, Lennox led the squad with a pair of goals, both of which came in a 2-1 win over Elmira College in Empire 8 action on Saturday. The Cardinals battled Ithaca College to a scoreless tie on Sunday to wrap up the week.
In Saturday’s decision over the Soaring Eagles, Lennox netted both goals to raise his season total to five goals. His second goal came in the 71st minute on a pass from #Andrew McIntosh#, snapping a 1-1 tie.
The St. John Fisher College men’s soccer team battled Ithaca College for 110 minutes on Sunday at Fisher’s Growney Stadium, but neither team could net the game-winner as the contest ended in a scoreless tie, setting the Cardinals record at 4-7-2 overall, 2-2-1 in the Empire 8. Throughout regulation, and into each of the 10-minute overtime periods, each squad pushed forward on several occasions, but key defensive stops halted a number of chances to score. Lennox tied for the team lead with two shots.
Lennox, the reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year,leads the Cardinals this season with 14 points on five goals and four assists.
Fisher will host Rochester Institute of Technology at 4 p.m. on Saturday in another Empire 8 Conference matchup.
