St. John Fisher College’s Ryan Francis (Batavia Notre Dame/Batavia) of the football team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 13, 2011.

Francis played a big role in the Cardinals’ aerial attack this past Saturday when they overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to earn an important 55-28 victory over Empire 8 Conference opponent Hartwick College. The senior wide receiver hauled in five receptions and accounted for 109 out of the Cardinals’ 174 receiving yards. He also managed to score a touchdown on a 31-yard pass from quarterback Ryan Kramer late in the third quarter to push the score to 38-20 in favor of Fisher.

On the season, Francis leads the team in touchdown receptions with seven, while his 42 receptions and 552 receiving yards are both good for second most on the team.

The game was the last of the regular season for Fisher who finished 8-2 overall and 6-1 in Empire 8 Conference play. After earning one of six at-large bids to the NCAA Division III Football Championship, the Cardinals will now travel to Baltimore to meet Johns Hopkins University (10-0) at 12 p.m. on Saturday in one of 16 opening round games.
