#Mary Kate Comfort# of the St. John Fisher College women’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 4, 2009.

In a 1-1 week for the Cardinals (5-2 overall, 1-1 Empire 8 Conference) Comfort averaged 14.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks, while shooting 56.5% (13-for-23) from the floor.

The junior center started the week off by tallying 16 points and 13 rebounds in an 80-70 loss to Hartwick College. Comfort made eight of her first nine shots from the floor and also blocked two shots in the loss.

On Saturday, Comfort posted her 10th career double-double and finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the Cardinals’ 58-57 win over visiting Stevens Institute of Technology, who entered the game with an 8-1 overall record.

For the season, Comfort is averaging 7.8 points and 7.0 rebounds and has started in all six games she’s played in.

Fisher will return to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Rochester Institute of Technology.
