St. John Fisher College’s Connor Henderson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua), a senior on the men’s lacrosse team, has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 18, 2012.
In a 1-1 week for the Cardinals, Henderson compiled a team-high 13 points on eight assists and five goals while collecting five groundballs.
On Tuesday Fisher hosted The College at Brockport and jumped out to a huge lead before holding on for the 13-9 win. Henderson tallied three goals in the game while assisting on another four scores. He also scooped three groundballs for the Cardinals to help keep control over the Golden Eagles.
Saturday was a crosstown matchup between the host Cardinals and the No. 5 Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers. The two teams went back and forth for most of the game, with RIT holding a 7-6 advantage at the half. Fisher proved that it could play right along with the Tigers, scoring the first two goals of the third quarter to regain an 8-7 lead. The Cardinals eighth goal came from Henderson’s stick with 7:41 to play in the quarter, giving Fisher its second lead of the day. However, RIT would take control late in the third quarter with a few quick scores, eventually gaining a 15-10 victory. Henderson gave his all, scoring twice while assisting again on four other goals.
Henderson and the Cardinals will get another home game at 4 p.m. on Wednesday against Lycoming College.
