St. John Fisher College’s Tyler McArdell (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville), a senior on the men’s golf team, has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 20, 2012. McArdell’s performance this weekend helped the men’s golf team take seventh place at the NCAA Championships.
Over the span of four days McArdell shot the most consistent scores for the Cardinals. The senior led Fisher by shooting a total 292 (+4) which landed him in sixth-place overall in the national tournament. On the final day, McArdell led Fisher with a one over 73. After two bogeys on holes three and five, the senior ended his career on a high note, birdying on the ninth, his last hole of the Championship.
While competing in the NCAA Division III Championship at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fl. the Men’s golf team finished with a combined score of 1202 (+50) over 4 rounds.
McArdell finished his career for the Cardinals by being named as the Empire 8 Player of the Year, PING All-Region First Team, and an NCAA Division III PING All-American for this past season. Over his four-year career with the Cardinals, McArdell earned four Empire 8 Player of the Week honors and was a 2011 NCAA Division III PING All-American, while also being named to the PING Mid Atlantic All-Region First team.
