PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher women's track and field's Makenna Keough has been named Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Year for the 2025-26 indoor season, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Keough, who also earned All-Empire 8 status in the long jump and triple jump events, joins Zhane Lettsome (2022-23) and Ciarra  Franz (2021-22) as the third St. John Fisher women's track and field athlete to win E8 Indoor Rookie of the Year.

Seniors Erin McGuinness (first team, shot put) and Christina Valicenti (second team, weight throw) and sophomore Kianna Naval (third team, triple jump) also earned All-Empire 8 honors. The Empire 8 first, second and third team all-conference selections were determined at the championship meet on Feb. 27-28.

Additionally, junior Maggie Bacon was selected as St. John Fisher's representative on the conference's "Tomorrow's Leaders Team." The Tomorrow's Leaders Team recognizes a student-athlete from each E8 team who has demonstrated leadership in competition, in the classroom and in the community.

Keough set Fisher's indoor record in the triple jump with a second-place mark of 11.35 meters in the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships earlier this month. She placed second in the triple jump and long jump in the E8 Indoor Championships.

The Cardinals begin the outdoor track and field season on Saturday by hosting the Fisher Tri-Meet at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex.
