PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Senior thrower Erin McGuinness placed first in the shot put on Friday as the St. John Fisher women's track and field team began competition in the Empire 8 Conference Indoor Championships at Nazareth University's Golisano Training Center. The Cardinals sit in third place after the first night of action with 39 team points, trailing Nazareth (63) and SUNY Geneseo (124.5).
McGuinness set Fisher's indoor shot put record with her Empire 8-championship winning mark of 13.41 meters. This marks the second year in a row that she has won the E8 indoor title in the event.
Makenna King previously held Fisher's indoor shot put record at 13.38 meters. She recorded that mark in December 2023.
Eiser Has Strong Performance In Women's Pentathlon
Freshman Caelyn Eiser placed fourth in the pentathlon with a score of 2871, the top indoor mark in Fisher history. She placed first in the shot put (10.86 meters), fourth in the high jump (1.43 meters), fourth in the long jump (4.92 meters) and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.65 seconds).

Senior Caitlin Voloshen placed sixth in the mile with a time of 5:12.49.

Sophomore Abigail Dorunda and freshman Emily Heiner both qualified for the final in the 60-meter run. Dorunda placed fourth in the first-round race with a time of 7.79 – the second-fastest 60-meter mark in program history. Heiner finished right behind her in fifth with a time of 7.89, good for fourth in Fisher's top-five list for the event.

Freshman Makenna Keough qualified for the final in the 60-meter hurdles event, logging a first-round time of 9.41.
