BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Kyle Rollins etched his name in the record books once again as the junior broke the program record in the triple jump while winning in two other events as the St. John Fisher College men's track and field team placed fifth at the College of the Brockport's Golden Eagle Invitational with a total of 55.5 points.
Rollins leaped 14.61 meters in the triple jump, breaking
Mark VanMarter's record of 14.45 meters to earn second place in the event. The mark currently ranks sixth in all of the Division III this season. The Groveland native also won the high jump for the fourth time in as many tries this year, clearing 2.15 meters. The mark ties Rollins' own program record while putting him back as the number one in the nation in the event. The Geneseo High School graduate also won the 60-meter hurdles with personal best time of 8.45 seconds.
Not to be outdone by Rollins terrific performance,
Daniel Norris broke his own program record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.02 seconds. The senior holds the best time in all of the Empire 8 by more than .2 seconds this season.
Jonah Dean finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.21 seconds.
Savion Joyles placed third in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 1.91 meters.
Setting personal records were
Mathieu Acquard in the Mile.
Curtis Cuvilly in the 200-meter.
Zak Kennedy in the 800-meter.
Zachary Briggs in the high jump.
William Walker in the shot put.
Ryan Driscoll in the 3000-meter.
Leyton Miner had a season-best throw in the shot put with a throw of 13.68 meters.
Up ahead for the Cardinals are a pair of competitions next weekend. On Friday, some competitors will be at the Rochester Institute of Technology while others will travel to Boston University for the Valentine Classic Invite that runs on both Friday and Saturday.
