PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's track and field team opened the outdoor season with several strong performances on Saturday in the Fisher Tri-Meet at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex.
Junior Hayden Penna had the top result of the day for the Cardinals, recording a mark of 4.91 meters in the pole vault to break the school record he set last outdoor season. Penna placed first in the event and qualified for the regional meet.
Field Highlights

Sophomore Oren Welch placed second and qualified for the regional meet in the pole vault with a mark of 4.61 meters.

Sophomore Daniel Davis placed first in the discus throw with a hurl of 44.46 meters, qualifying for regionals.

Senior Brandon Kaplan placed first and qualified for regionals in the hammer throw with a toss of 58.78 meters.
Track Highlights

Welch placed first and recorded a personal best time of 15.43 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. It marked the fifth-best 110 hurdles time in program history.

Sophomore Trystan Biller placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.44, a personal best.

Junior Jace Stuart placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.13.

Sophomore Michael Prentice placed first in the 200-meter run with a time of 23.22.
