Houghton, N.Y. - For the second time in three years, the St. John Fisher College men's track and field team won the Empire 8 Indoor Championships. The Cardinals racked up 220 points with second place Utica College earning 133.5 points.
Junior
Kyle Rollins was named Field Athlete of the Meet for his performance on the weekend. Along with winning the long jump on Friday, the Groveland native won the triple jump and the high jump while also finishing second in the 60-meter hurdles event on Saturday
Eddie Mahana won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.02 seconds, tying his program record he set on Friday while also setting a new meet record. The senior also placed second in the 200-meters and anchored a 4x440 relay team that finished first.
Daniel Norris won the 60-meters with a time of 7.01 seconds. The time breaks the record Norris already owned.The senior also won the 200-meters with a personal-best 22.55 seconds.
Grant Stokoe won the 800-meters with a time of 1:57.46.
Chase Corcoran won the weight throw with hitting the 16.38-meter mark.
Ryan Desautels placed second.
Along with Mahana,
Jonah Dean,
Zak Kennedy and Stokoe were part of the winning relay team that finished in 3:25.13.
Savion Joyles placed second in the high jump while
Zachary Briggs finished in third.
Jonah Dean set a personal-best time with a third-place finish in the 200-meters.
Bernard Daoust took third in the 3000-meters.
Andrew Ford finished right behind in fourth with a personal-best time.
Myles Anderson finished fifth in the 800-meters.
Setting personal-best marks were Kennedy and
Mathieu Acquard in the 800-meters. In addition to
Trenton Wynn in the 200-meters and
Jack Bickford in the weight throw.
Up next for Fisher will be the Atlantic Regional Championships held at Nazareth College next weekend.
