Houghton, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher College men's track and field team lead the Empire 8 Championships after day one with 82 points. Fisher had three individuals win events with senior
Eddie Mahana breaking a program record.
Mahana won the 400-meters with a time of 50.20 seconds. He would later set the fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles preliminary races while breaking the program record with a time of 8.02 seconds.
Kyle Rollins won the long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.93 meters.
Ryan Desautels took home first place in the shot put with a throw of 14.77 meters.
Daniel Norris finished first in the 60-meter preliminaries with a time of 7.03 seconds.
Andrew Ford earned second in the 5000-meters with a personal-best time of 15:40.18.
Bernard Daoust finished just behind Ford in third.
Grant Stokoe placed second in the mile.
Jonah Dean took second in the 400-meters.
Phoenix Palmer finished second in the pole vault.
The relay team of
Fred Owen,
Zak Kennedy,
Ryan Allen and
Myles Anderson took third in the distance medley relay.
Chase Corcoran earned fourth in the shot put.
Matt Pennell qualified for the 60-meter finals with a personal-best time of 7.31 seconds. Also setting personal-best marks were
Maxwell Blowers in the 60-meter hurdles,
Trenton Wynn in the 60-meter dash. As well as
Bogdan Rozvora,
Brandon Nicosia and
Kevin Havens in the 5000-meters. In addition to
Joe Jerkovich in the shot put and
Adam Palmer in the pole vault.
The Conference Championships wrap up on Saturday at Houghton College. The first events of the day will begin at 10:30 a.m.
