Boston, Mass. – The St. John Fisher College men's track and field team competed at the second day of the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
Senior
Bernard Daoust set a new program record in the 5,000-meter run. The Castleton native finished the 5k in 15:15.97, breaking
Mac Milligan's previous record by more than 13 seconds. Daoust placed 30th overall in a race that included Division I runners while lowering his own personal best by 29 seconds. The senior's performance ranks 19th regionally and qualifies him for the Atlantic Regional Championships.
Eddie Mahana raced in the 400-meter dash and finished as one of top Division III runners. The senior posted a converted time of 49.84 that ranks 20th in the nation. Mahana also anchored the 4x400 relay team that included
Grant Stokoe,
Jonah Dean and
Zak Kennedy. The Fisher foursome qualified for regionals with a solid finish.
Ryan Desautels placed 14th in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 16.10 meters. The junior leads the Empire 8 in shot put and ranks second in the conference in weight throw only behind fellow Cardinal
Chase Corcoran.
Daniel Norris tied for 18th place overall in the 60-meter dash in a race filled with Division I talent.
Myles Anderson and
Ryan Allen both set new personal bests in the 800-meter. Anderson crossed the line in 2:01.97 while Allen finished with in 2:02.22.
The Cardinals have one more meet before the Empire 8 Championships. Fisher will over to Nazareth College for the Conference Tune-Up on Friday, February 21st.
