ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Chase Corcoran set a new school record in the weight throw as the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's track and field team competed at the RIT Invitational on Saturday.
Corcoran threw the weight 17.14 meters to win the competition and break the program record that was previously held by
Ross Mathewson. The junior's throw currently ranks seventh in the nation.
Brandon Nicosia won the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:58.59 for the freshman's first career victory.
Bogdan Rozvora finished in 17:20.11 to take second place while
Kevin Havens ended up in fourth place.
Trenton Wynn ran the 60-meter hurdles in 9.06 seconds to earn the first win of the freshman's career.
In the 4x400 meter relay,
Jonah Dean,
Zak Kennedy,
Grant Stokoe and
Eddie Mahana teamed up to win the event with a time of 3:27.59. The time was just .59 seconds away from qualifying for the Atlantic Regional Championship.
Ryan Desautels finished in second place in both the Shot Put and Weight Throw. The junior's 15.75-meter throw in the weight was a new personal best and qualified him for regionals.
Stokoe finished the 400-meter dash in 51.85 seconds to take second place. The sophomore was .01 seconds behind the race winner.
Setting new personal records were
Mathieu Acquard in the 800-meter,
Ryan Allen and
Keegan Reyome in the Mile,
Phoenix Palmer in the Pole Vault, as well as
Joe Jerkovich and
Jack Bickford in the Weight Throw.
The No. 20 Cardinals have another short trip coming up for their next meet. Fisher competes in the Conference Challenge at Nazareth College on Saturday, January 25th.
