Cross Country Teams Finish Third At Houghton Short Course

Both the St. John Fisher College men's and women's cross country teams finished third overall at the Houghton College Short Course Invitational on Saturday.

On the women's side, the Cardinals were led by three freshmen.   Katlin Shippy led Fisher on the day and finished 11th out of 87 runners with a time of 12:13 for the 3200-meter course.

Classmate Sarah Coon was 15th overall at 12:26, while Renee Deruchia was right behind her and placed 16th overall.  
Sophomore Taylor Gallup finished in 22nd place at 12:36, while Nicole Vainauskas was 26th at 12:41.

On the men's side, Evan Magnussen, who led for most of the race, finished in 10th place with a time of 16:53 for the five-kilometer race.
Matt Herbert was 12th overall and second for Fisher with a time of 17:00.  Yanko Panipinto was 22nd overall at 17:31, while Jeffrey Mangiafesto was 23rd at 17:37.   Adam Bradley closed out the scoring for Fisher and placed 25th overall at 17:46.

Fisher returns to action next Saturday at the Yellowjacket Invitational, hosted by University of Rochester.
