PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Junior Jace Stuart led St. John Fisher to a sixth-place finish in the Empire 8 Men's Cross Country Championship, which the Cardinals hosted on their course on Saturday morning. 

SUNY Geneseo placed first for the second straight season, while Utica claimed second. Houghton (third), SUNY Brockport (fourth) and Nazareth (fifth) made up the rest of the top five in the team race. 

Stuart, who's been Fisher's top performer all season, took eighth in an 8k race that included nearly 120 runners. He recorded a time of 26:44.0, just shy of Andrew Ford's program record time (26:40.00) for the Cardinals' Cross Country Course. 

Stuart has placed in the top 25 in each of the three 8k races he has competed in this season. 

Additional Race Highlights 

• Sophomore Landon Wertz placed 40th with a time of 28:32.0, the eighth-best time on Fisher's top 20 list for the course. 

• Sophomore Connor Stanton (29:45.6), junior Nathan Canale (29:54.0), senior Will Chubb (29:54.5), freshman Connor Levy (30:30.3), senior Ethan Morales (30:58.3) and senior Reid Hooker (31:08.0) also cracked Fisher's top-20 list for the course.
