St. John Fisher College has named Amanda Lax (Minisink Valley/Warwick) of the women’s basketball team as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 13, 2011.

In a 2-1 week for the Cardinals (14-10) Lax averaged 14.7 points and 3.7 rebounds, while shooting 100% (9-for-9) from the foul line and 46.7% (14-for-30) from the floor.

On Tuesday, Lax scored a career-high 22 points in Fisher’s 90-56 win at Rochester Institute of Technology.  She shot 70% (7-for-10) from the floor and 83% (5-for-6) from 3-point range. The win clinched Fisher’s postseason-bid and marked the team’s eighth consecutive win.

The senior guard added eight points and four assists in Friday’s 61-46 loss over Ithaca College.  On Saturday, in her last home game, she scored 14 points in Fisher’s 82-79 victory over Utica College.

For the season, Lax is averaging 8.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game.

Fisher will play its last regular-season game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Nazareth College.
