Velasco opened the weekend with 15 points in 17 minutes against Houghton, as the Cardinals cruised to an 81-38 win. Less than 24 hours later, she helped Fisher take down Ithaca College, who was previously undefeated in the conference, by scoring 18 points. When the Bombers pulled within one point at 41-40 with just under seven minutes left, Velasco scored seven straight points to give the Cardinals a seven-point lead with five minutes left. The 54-49 victory marked Fisher’s first win over Ithaca since the 2012-13 season.
Fisher, on a four-game winning streak, is now 13-4 overall and 6-2 in the Empire 8. The Cardinals visit East Ave rival Nazareth College on Friday with a 6 p.m. tipoff.
