PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher University athletics communications coordinator Mike Hogan announced on Thursday that Brianna Harzula has been promoted to a full-time position within the athletics communications department. Harzula joined Fisher's athletics communications staff on a part-time basis in August 2025.
"I am excited and grateful for this opportunity. I really enjoy working at Fisher, and I'm excited to contribute even more to the athletics communications department," Harzula said. "I have learned a lot over the past year, and I am looking forward to being more involved with Fisher Athletics. I have learned a lot over the past year, and I am looking forward to continuing to grow in this role."
In her first year at Fisher, Harzula primarily handled the athletics communications efforts for the Cardinals' men's and women's ice hockey teams, leading in-game statistical coverage, social media promotion and website maintenance. She also worked with Fisher's softball and men's and women's volleyball teams.
Harzula attended the NCAA Division III Athletic Communicators Emerging Elite Program this past December. Launched in 2024 in partnership with D3SIDA and College Sports Communicators (CSC), the program is designed to elevate the next generation of athletic communication leaders in Division III. Participants in the program engage in interactive sessions focused on leadership development, managing and growing a team, cross-department collaboration and navigating the evolving landscape of college athletics communications.
Before joining Fisher, Harzula served as an athletics communications graduate assistant at American International College in Springfield, Mass. While at AIC, she provided live statistical input for a variety of NCAA Division II home contests using platforms such as NCAA Live Stats and PrestoStats. She also supported media relations efforts by producing written content such as game notes and recaps, while contributing to digital and social media strategies designed to elevate the visibility of AIC's athletic programs.
"I am so incredibly happy for and proud of Brianna," Hogan said. "This is a great example of taking a chance on a small opportunity and turning it into something bigger by putting your head down and working hard. This job demands countless hours, nights and weekends from August to whenever our spring teams get done competing. Brianna did way more than we expected of her last year, all while balancing two jobs. She's such a tremendous person and worker, and I look forward to her continued growth here at St. John Fisher."
Originally from Bernardsville, New Jersey, Harzula earned her bachelor's degree in sport and recreation management with a minor in communications and public relations from American International. She completed her master's degree in business administration at AIC in 2025.
Harzula was a four-year member of the AIC softball program, playing in 119 games (99 starts) from 2021-24. She also played for the Yellow Jackets' field hockey team as a graduate senior in fall 2024.
