PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Three St. John Fisher University student-athletes have earned weekly honors from the Empire 8 Conference, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
FOOTBALL
Jackson Cusack (Sr., WR/PR) – Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week
Cusack returned two punts for a career-high 65 yards and a touchdown on Saturday in St. John Fisher's 10-point loss to SUNY Brockport in the Courage Bowl. He returned his second punt 46 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, cutting the Cardinals' deficit to three points, 24-21. It marked St. John Fisher's first punt return touchdown since TySean Sizer recorded a 76-yard score against The College of New Jersey on Sept. 21, 2019.
MEN'S SOCCER
Parker Stusek (So., GK) – Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week
Stusek totaled 11 saves and registered a .917 save percentage to help lift the Cardinals to a pair of Empire 8 wins at home last week. He made seven saves in a 3-1 victory over Elmira on Wednesday night and four while recording his third shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory over Keuka on Saturday.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Kaylene Noble (Sr., OH) – Empire 8 Co-Player of the Week
Noble slammed 51 kills (4.64 per set) while hitting .298 and amassed 54.5 total points (4.95 per set) while leading St. John Fisher to three wins last week. Defensively, she recorded 27 digs (2.45 per set) and three total blocks, including two solo blocks.
In a sweep of Alfred on Friday, Noble hammered 15 kills on 23 attempts for a .522 hitting percentage and finished with 17.5 points. On Saturday, in Fisher's second E8 match of the weekend, she had 18 kills while hitting .240 and tallied 19 points in all to lead the Cardinals to a 3-1 win over Houghton. Noble finished the weekend with 18 more kills in a 3-1 non-conference win over Buffalo State later on Saturday.
