UTICA, N.Y. – St. John Fisher women's track and field senior Ciarra Franz had a record-breaking performance on Saturday at the Empire 8 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Utica University's Todd and Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center. The Cardinals placed fourth as a team with 90 points.
Franz placed first, tied her school record and set conference, meet and facility records in the women's 60m hurdles event with a time of 8.82. Her performance tied her for No. 17 in the nation in the event.
Franz also earned a spot on the podium in the 60m dash, placing third with a time of 7.88. Freshmen Makenna Manson (fourth place, 7.94) and Abigail Dorunda (sixth place, 8.03) placed fourth and sixth in the event, respectively.
Other Meet Highlights

Junior Caitlin Voloshen broke the school record in the 800m run (2:18.27).

Freshman Brianne Hurlburt set a personal record in the 800m run (2:19.8).

Junior Olivia Grinnell set a personal record on the 3000m run (10:35.69). That time marked the second-best women's 3k time in program history.

Junior Jazelle McIntyre set a personal best and recorded the second-best mark in program history in the weight throw (15.46m).

Freshman Kathryn Hillyard placed second and tied her personal best in the high jump (1.63m).

Fishers 4x400 relay team of Grace Wright, Emma Wright, Sophia Leach, and Dorunda placed third and set a program record (4:00.57).

The Cardinals' qualifiers will compete in NCAA Regionals at Ithaca College next Friday and Saturday.
