UTICA, N.Y. – St. John Fisher University women's track and field junior Erin McGuinness headlined a strong Friday for the Cardinals at the Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships, placing first in the shot put.
After the first day, the Cardinals stand in fourth place as a team with 41 points. SUNY Geneseo holds first place by a wide margin (137 points), while Nazareth is in second place with 59 points. SUNY Brockport holds third place with 49 points.
McGuinness won the shot put event with a mark of 12.60m, claiming an E8 individual title for the first time in her collegiate career. She also set a personal best and moved up to No. 4 on the program's top-five list in the event with that performance.
Senior Ciarra Franz impressed across multiple events throughout the day. She placed third and qualified for the final in the 60m run (7.85 seconds), placed second and qualified for the final in the 60m hurdles event (8.97 seconds) and hit the NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the long jump (5.31m).

The Cardinals' distance medley relay team of Maggie Bacon, Emma Wright, Grace Caterina and Peyton Carter set a season-best at 12:59.19.

Freshman Victoria Rogoyski set a personal and school record in the pentathlon with a mark of 2731.

Freshman Makenna Manson placed fourth and qualified for the final in the 60m run. She set a personal record with her time (7.94 seconds).

Freshman Abigail Dorunda also qualified for the final in the 60m run and placed sixth. She recorded a time of 7.98 seconds.

Junior Caitlin Voloshen earned third place on the podium in the mile, recording a time of 5:05.21. Junior Olivia Grinnell placed seventh (5:14.29).

Franz also had an impressive performance in the 60m hurdles event, placing second with a time of 8.97 seconds.

Senior Gracie Wright placed fourth and set a personal record in the 400m run (1:00.06)

Senior Audrey Carragher set a personal best in the 5000m run (19:27.29)

Baillee Burton set a personal best in the 5000m run (19:04.85). She placed ninth in the event.
