Kaplan Breaks School Record Again At Naz Conference Tune-Up

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Junior Brandon Kaplan broke his own school record for the second time this month in the weight throw on Friday night as the St. John Fisher men's track and field team competed at the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up at the Golisano Training Center. 

Kaplan placed second in the event with a 17.99m throw. The result moved him to No. 22 in the nation in the weight throw. 

Here are some additional highlights from Friday's meet: 
  • Sophomore Hayden Penna placed first in the pole vault (4.61m), while freshman Oren Welch placed fifth, setting a personal record and hitting the NCAA Regional qualifying mark at 4.46m. 

  • Senior Nathaniel Kulp set a seven-second personal record in the mile run (4:29.2). He placed 11th in that event.

  • Sophomore Nathan Canale set a three-second personal record in the 800m run (1:59.27). He placed eighth in the event.

  • Senior Jamie Schappi set a seven-second personal record in the 800m run (2:04.6). 

  • Freshman Corinthian Reed placed first in the 400m run (50.22 seconds). Freshman Michael Prentice placed fourth (51.86), and senior Brady Bishop placed seventh (52.07). 

  • Freshman Dylan Rose placed third in the high jump (1.82m).

  • Freshman Daniel Davis placed third in the shot put (14.26m).

  • Sophomore Manuel Sepulveda placed first in the triple jump (13.93). 

Up Next

The Cardinals will compete in the Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend in Utica, New York.
