ROME, N.Y. – With a strong second round on Monday the Teugega Country Club, St. John Fisher rallied past three teams to end the fall portion of the 2025-26 Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship with a five-stroke lead.
The Cardinals carded a 15-over 295 on Monday as they surged past Nazareth, Russell Sage and SUNY Canton. They began the day in fourth place, seven strokes behind first-place Canton, which shot a 301 in the first round.
Sophomore Colin Patterson moved up three spots on Monday to conclude the fall portion of the championship in second place, just one stroke behind Luke Finlan (Russell Sage) for first place. Patterson, who carded five birdies over the two rounds, shot a 75 on Sunday and a 72 on Monday to finish seven-over 147.
Fellow sophomore Nick Years made an even larger jump in the second round, charging 16 spots up the leaderboard to move into a tie for third. Years, who finished +8 overall, shot a round-low 70 (even) with an impressive six birdies on Monday.
Jack Doran also stands in the top 10 on the leaderboard through the first two rounds of the tournament. The sophomore shot a 73 on Sunday and a 76 on Monday to finish nine-over 149.
The 2025-26 E8 Championship will resume in April at the Lebanon Valley Country Club. The team champion receives an automatic berth into the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship, set for May 12-15 at Mission Resort Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.
The Cardinals have won four consecutive E8 championships and 20 overall.
