DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. – St. John Fisher junior Colin Patterson shot four-over-par 217 to finish in the top 30 in the West Pines Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe University on Monday and Tuesday at the West Pines Golf Club.
The Cardinals finished the three-round tournament in 20th place as a team at +55 (907 strokes). They had their strongest collective performance in Monday's first round, shooting 14-over-par 298. Fisher shot 23 over (307) in the second round and 18 over (302) in the third round.
Patterson put together the strongest performance of his collegiate career over the two days, recording 11 birdies and shooting under par in the first and third rounds. He finished tied for 28th place in a field that included well more than 100 competitors.
The reigning Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year, Patterson carded a 70 (-1) in the first round with five birdies, all on the back nine. He carded a 69 (-2) with four birdies to finish the tournament on Tuesday, tied for the second-lowest score in the third round. In the middle round, Patterson shot seven-over-par 78 with two birdies.
Juniors Carson French and Jack Doran both finished 17-over-par 230 for the tournament, good for 93rd place.
French had his best showing in the second round, shooting a 71 (even) with two birdies. Doran shot a four-over-par 75 in the first and third rounds, recording a pair of birdies in each.
Host Oglethorpe won the tournament at 17-under par 835. Shenandoah placed second, shooting five-under 847 over the three rounds.
