PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's golf team ended the fall portion of the 2026-27 Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament in fifth place, nine strokes behind first-place holder Nazareth. The Cardinals shot 35-over-par 611. 

The first two rounds of the tournament were played Sunday and Monday at the Lake Shore Yacht and Country Club in Cicero, New York. The championship will resume in April with 36 holes at Lebanon Valley Country Club in Pennsylvania.

Two Cardinals, Carson French and Ryan Jones, hold spots in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard through the first two rounds. 

French shot three-over-par 147 in the first two rounds and stands alone in third place. He carded a pair of birdies on Sunday and three more on Monday. 

Jones is tied for eighth place at six-over-par 150. He carded eight birdies over the first two rounds – four each day – and moved up three spots on Monday, when she shot a 72. He finished the first round six over par. 

The 2026-27 Empire 8 Champion receives an automatic berth into the 2027 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship, set for May 18-21 at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA. The Cardinals have won the conference title 21 times overall and five years in a row.
