PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The 2024 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-America teams have been released and were announced at the Opening Ceremony of the NCAA Div. III College World Series Thursday night in Eastlake, Ohio.
 
The St. John Fisher University baseball program is represented by third baseman, James Murphy as he is named to the All-American Fourth-Team. He earned First Team All-Region honors from ABCA/Rawlings and Second Team Recognition accolades from D3Baseball.com. This year, Murphy led the Empire 8 conference during the regular season in runs scored (60), was second in hits (66), steals (33), doubles (13, tied with Sage's James Lubanski), and triples (5), and placed third in batting average (.393) and RBI (49). The Niskayuna native finished in the top five for on-base percentage (.493) and in the top 10 for slugging percentage (.601), OPS (1.094), home runs (4), and walks (21). His hitting heroics continued in the postseason, as he batted .417 (5-for-12) with a home run, two doubles, four runs scored, and 11 RBI in the three St. John Fisher wins as he won Most Outstanding Player in the Empire 8 tournament. His home run was a key one, sending the Cardinals to a walk-off victory in the 10th inning against Houghton.
 
On the field, Murphy became the first Cardinal to win the conference's Defensive Player of the Year Award. During the regular season, he turned 12 double plays from third base while leading the conference with 107 assists. His .965 fielding percentage was the 19th best among all players in the conference despite playing the difficult position of third base. 
 
The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 19. The ABCA NCAA Div. III Region All-Defensive teams will be announced on Thursday, June 20.
 
ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year for all divisions will be announced on Monday, June 24.
