PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men and women's track and field team competed in the Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the Cardinals. After two days of competition, both teams finished in third place. The men's side did it with a total of 121 points, while the women tallied a total mark of 149.
The day kicked off with the 4x100 relay and the team of
Ashley Holt,
Allison Lennebacker,
Hayly Fredrickson and
Sophia Leach, finished in third place with a time of 52.89. In the 1500,
Olivia Grinnell earned fourth place with a mark of 5:00.95.
Michaela Kurbs earned a fifth place finish in the 100m dash with a mark of 12.92. In the 800m race,
Maggie Bacon finished in sixth place with a time of 2:26.21. Leach claimed a second place finish in the 400m hurdles and Fredrickson took fourth with a time of 1:09.33.
Riley Jameson excelled in the 5k, using a time of 18:36.36 to take second place.
Lauren DeMichele raced a mark of 18:58.41 to finish in fifth.
Makenna King earned the win in the Discus Throw, reaching a distance of 45.65 in her fourth attempt. Teammate
Erin McGuinness finished in fourth place with a throw of 39.13. The two throws also impressed in the shot put. King took second place with a toss of 13.34, while McGuinness finished in fourth with a mark of 11.97.
Up next for the Cardinals is the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference Championships on Wednesday and Thursday, May 15-16, hosted by SUNY Cortland.
