PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men and women's track and field team competed in the Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the Cardinals. After two days of competition, both teams finished in third place. The men's side did it with a total of 121 points, while the women tallied a total mark of 149.
The day kicked off with the 4x100 relay and the team of
Brady Bishop,
Brock Young,
Ethan Fox and
Trenton Wynn, finished in third place with a time of 43.50. The Cardinals had three athletes score points in the 1500, with
Jace Stuart (4:09.11) taking fourth place,
Riley Nash (4:10.48) finishing in fifth place and Nate Kulp (4:11.77) taking sixth place. Wynn raced in the 110m hurdles and took home third place with a mark of 15.88. Teammate
John Ruggio claimed fourth place with a mark of 15.98. Wynn continued his success in the 100m dash, earning fourth place with a time of 11.29. Fox and Young joined Wynn in the race and took home fifth and sixth place respectively. Ruggio earned the first-place win in the 400m hurdles, due so with Regional Qualifying mark of 55.83.
Luke DeFio took home fifth place in the race with a time of 1:00.97.
Joey Curr earned sixth place with a toss of 13.04 in his fifth attempt. He also took home a fourth place finish in the discus throw, reaching a distance of 39.52.
Noah Dueker participated in the triple jump and tallied a distance of 12.94 in his final attempt to take third place. Wynn followed with a fourth place finish after jumped 12.91.
Sean Cochrane cleared the bar at 1.94m in his second attempt and finished in second.
Up next for the Cardinals is the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference Championships on Wednesday and Thursday, May 15-16, hosted by SUNY Cortland.
