HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's track and field team finished third at the Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, completing the two-day event.
The Cardinals finished with 81 points, behind Nazareth (193.33) and Utica (126).
Track Events
Sophomore
Caitlin Voloshen had the best finish of the day for the Cardinals in 800 meters, placing second with an Atlantic Region qualifying time of 2:22.17. Sophomore teammate
Olivia Grinnell placed fifth, with a mark of 2:25.50.
Seniors
Laura Witt (10:55.01) and
Lauren DeMichele (10:56.97) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 3000 meter.
Grinnell, Voloshen,
Grace Dolan, and
Sophia Leach combined to finish third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:16.64.
Senior
Michaela Kurbs placed fourth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.25.
Field Events
Senior
Makenna King had the best field event finish of the day for the Cardinals, placing seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 13.68m/44'10.75''.
Senior
Claudia Vogel placed eighth in the high jump with a height of 1.41m/4'7.5''.
What Comes Next
Any Cardinals who have met qualifying standards will next compete at the Atlantic Region Championships at Nazareth University on March 1 and 2.
