HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Several members of the St. John Fisher University women's track & field team came in first in their events on Saturday at the Houghton Highlander Invitational.
Track
Senior Abigail Perry started off the day right, winning the meet's first events, the 5,000m, with a time of 20:56.07. Junior Gracie Wright also took home a first-place finish, finishing the 400m in a time of 1:01.61. Freshmen Grace Dolan and Sophia Leach finished fourth and fifth, while junior Emma Wright placed seventh. Sophomore Caitlin Voloshen rounded out the three Cardinal track winners with a 2:24.42 time in the 800m, a new program record at the distance. Other top finishers for Fisher include the 4x400m relay team, which placed second, sophomore Olivia Grinnell (fifth in the women's mile), and seniors Lauren DeMichele and Laura Witt (third and fourth in the 3000m).
Field
Senior Michaela Kurbs and junior Veronia Duell finished one-two in the long jump with lengths of 5.27m (17'3.5'') and 5.26m (17'3.25''). Senior Makenna King won the shot put, throwing a AARTFC-qualifying distance of 12.28m (40'3.5''). King also placed third in the weight throw. Junior Emily Frech placed second in the pole vault with a height of 2.85m (9'4.25''). Sophomore Sarah Jacques placed third in high jump with a height of 1.41m (4'7.5'').
