PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team will head to face SUNY Geneseo and RPI this coming week in their final games before the start of conference play.
The Cardinals, currently 1-3 on the season, will play Geneseo on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7:00 P.M. before going to Renssaeler for a noon game on Sunday, Sept. 17.
St. John Fisher went 1-1 last week, taking their first victory of the season with a 3-2 win at Oswego State before falling at SUNY New Paltz, 6-1.
Fisher for Fisher: Junior forward
Molly Fisher leads the Cardinals with three goals and six overall points on the season, including two scores in the win against Oswego. The Webster native is currently tied for fourth in the Empire 8 in goals per game and is second in shots on goal.
Looking Back: Fisher is 5-4 all-time against Geneseo but lost last season's matchup, 6-2. Both of Fisher's goal-scorers in last year's game (Fisher and now-junior
Audrey Grieb) remain on the team.
The Cardinals have a shorter history against RPI. The two schools have faced off five times in the history of the programs, with St. John Fisher winning one. Last season, RPI defeated the Cardinals, 3-0, at Growney Stadium.
Player to Watch: Junior
Taylor Scrocca has a goal and two assists this season, all coming in last week's Oswego game. The forward, who received her first start of the season against New Paltz, will look for continued success this week.
