UTICA, NY – The St. John Fisher Women's Track and Field team traveled to Utica, N.Y. as they competed in the Utica Pioneer Spring Invite. The meet took place on Saturday and was hosted by Utica University. As a team, the Cardinals placed first overall, scoring 209 points to beat 11 other teams.
On the Track
First on the track, multiple Cardinals competed in the 10,000m.
Sophia Prouty ran 40:48.93 to place second overall. Not far behind,
Lauren Almy ran 41:19.94 to place third overall. Rounding out the top five,
Abigail Perry ran 43:24.92 to place fifth overall. All three runners ran Empire 8 (E8) Championship qualifying times.
Next up, Fisher competed in the 3000m steeplechase.
Sabrina Antonini ran 12:36.57 to place third overall, an E8 Championship qualifying time. Maggie Dolloff ran 14:05.14, taking fourth overall.
Right after, multiple Cardinals competed in the 4x100m relay. The team of
Michaela Kurbs,
Zhane Lettsome,
Samantha Shea, and
Ciarra Franz ran 48.67 to place first overall and qualify for the AARTFC meet. The team of
Lillian Farrand,
Logan Fredrickson,
Claudia Vogel, and
Veronica Duell ran 54.64 to place fourth overall.
Shortly after, Fisher competed in the 1500m. Victorious in the meet,
Lauren DeMichele ran 4:59.11 to place first overall. Her performance currently puts her first in the Empire 8.
Competing in the 100m hurdles,
Lily Rexford ran 17.56 to take third overall. Nearly identical,
Hayly Fredrickson ran 17.59 to place fourth overall. Both runners ran E8 Championship qualifying times.
Collecting another win for the Cardinals, Shea ran 57.85 in the 400m. Her time qualifies her for the AARTFC meet and puts her first in the conference.
Ashley Holt took seventh overall, running 1:09.76.
Grabbing another win for Fisher, Franz ran 12.53 in the 100m. Kurbs ran 13.00, taking fourth overall. In tenth place, Duell ran 13.50. Next,
Allison Lennebacker ran 13.79 to take 14th overall.
Paige Lundgren ran 13.92 to take 17th overall. All five Cardinals ran E8 Championship qualifying times.
Next up, Fisher competed in the 800m.
Caitlin Voloshen ran 2:29.17 to take third overall. Her performance qualifies her for the E8 Championship. Allison List ran 2:36.98 to take sixth overall.
Riley Jameson ran 2:38.67, taking eighth and scoring one point for the Cardinals.
Competing in the 400m hurdles,
Hayly Fredrickson ran 1:09.78, placing second overall and qualifying for the E8 championship meet.
Lily Rexford ran 1:15.10, placing fourth overall.
In the 200m, Lettsome ran 26.41, placing third overall.
Next,
Brigid McGee competed in the 5000m. McGee ran 19:08.23, placing third overall. Her performance moves her up to second in the Empire 8.
On the Field
First on the field, multiple Cardinals competed in the hammer throw.
Makenna King took first overall, throwing 43.32m.
Erin McGuinness threw 31.10m, taking tenth overall. Next,
Jazelle McIntyre threw 30.25 to place 11
th overall. All three throwers threw E8 Championship qualifying marks.
Claiming another win for Fisher, Vogel jumped 1.50m in the high jump. Tying for third overall, both Sarah Jacques and
Angela Carlson jumped 1.35m. Peyton Draper also jumped 1.35m, taking sixth overall. All four jumpers jumped E8 Championship qualifying marks.
Keeping the winning going, Kurbs competed in the long jump, jumping 5.32m to take first and move up to second in the conference. In a close second, Duell jumped 5.26m.
Next up, multiple Cardinals competed in the discus throw. King threw 42.62m, taking second overall and furthering her lead atop the conference leader board. Taking sixth place, McGuinness threw 30.92m.
Hallie Knapp threw 30.83m, taking seventh overall.
Lyndsay O'Brien threw 29.11m, placing ninth overall.
Competing in the pole vault,
Emily Frech jumped 2.80m, placing second overall. Taking third overall,
Hayly Fredrickson jumped 2.65m.
Ending the day on the track, Fisher competed in the shot put. King threw 11.28m taking second place overall. Not far behind, McGuinness threw 11.05m to take third overall. O'Brien threw 10.56m, placing fifth overall. All three throwers threw E8 Championship qualifying marks.
Next up, Fisher will be competing in two separate meets. On Saturday, Apr. 15, some Cardinals will be travelling to Brockport, NY, as they compete in the SUNY Brockport – Brockport Invite. On Saturday, Apr. 15 and Sunday, Apr. 16, the rest of the Cardinals will be travelling to Lewisburg, PA, as they compete in the Bucknell University – Bison Outdoor Classic.
