BEREA, OH – The St. John Fisher University wrestling team hit the road on Saturday to compete in the John Summa Invite hosted by Baldwin Wallace University. The competition featured teams such as Lycoming, Ohio Wesleyan, Thiel and West Liberty. The Cardinals battled hard and finished in ninth-place.
Mason Welch competed in the 133-pound bracket and took home eighth place to score 4.5 points. He came away with a 6-3 victory by decision to advance to the quarterfinals. Despite dropping that match, he bounced back and claimed a 2-0 decision to continue to battle. He fell again in the seventh place match to finish in eighth.
Logan Palmeri also tallied 4.5 points in the 165-pound bracket. He finished the day with two victories, a 20-3 technical fall at 3:26 and a pin fall victory at 1:42.
Zachary Miller tallied 5.5 points in the 174-pound bracket, collected two pin fall victories. The first was in 0:18 and the next was in 1:48.

Nathan Coon (184) and
Trevor Sheehan (157) all helped contribute points to the Cardinals.
Fisher is home for their next competition. They will host Jamestown Community College on Thursday, Feb. 9 in the Manning and Napier Varsity Gym. The Dual match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
