WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Six St. John Fisher University wrestlers remain alive after the first day of the NCAA Division III Region II Wrestling Championships at Lycoming College.

Senior Daniel Parkulo (125 pounds) and freshman Trevor Bishop (141 pounds) advanced to the semifinals in their weight classes. Four others – junior Derek Bernardino (133), sophomore Paul Lichter (157), sophomore Braydon Vandenberg (197) and sophomore Jackson Burns (285) – remain on the backside of the bracket and can finish as high as third in their weight classes.

The top three finishers in each weight class earn automatic bids to the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Providence, Rhode Island, March 14-15.

Parkulo won by major decision over Naci Robinson (Stevens) to advance to the 125-pound quarterfinal. He earned his spot in the semifinals with an 11-5 decision over Brockport's Liam Bullock.

Bishop gutted out a 4-1 decision in sudden victory over RIT's Josh Post in the first round. In the quarterfinals, he beat Oswego State's Gabe Goss 9-5 by decision.

Bernardino lost his first match before ripping off two straight wins on the backside to keep himself in contention. Lichter, Vandenberg and Burns all won their first matches before being bounced to the consolation bracket with losses in their second matches. They avoided elimination with victories on the backside.

The Cardinals, who sent 10 wrestlers to the regional, stand in eighth place as a team with 55.5 points. Stevens leads the way with 91 points.
