PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University wrestling team has earned 2024 NCAA Division III Scholar All-America Team honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). 

The Cardinals posted the fifth-highest team grade-point average (3.73) in Division III in 2024. The other four teams honored by the NWCA included Ohio Northern (3.89), Heidelberg University (3.82), Augsburg University (3.81) and Washington and Lee (3.74). 

Additionally, the NWCA named senior Daniel Parkulo (biochemistry), junior Derek Bernardino (data analytics), freshman Trevor Bishop (cybersecurity) and sophomores Paul Lichter (athletic performance), Dylan Devine (finance) and Jackson Burns (marketing) 2024 Scholar All-Americans. 

To earn NWCA Scholar All-America honors, wrestlers must meet one of the following athletic and academic requirements: 

• WRESTLING - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2

  1. Place in the top 8 in the regional tournament 

  2. Wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%.

     1. Matches with teammates will count only if they happened in a tournament 

     2. Matches set up between teammates will not count

• ACADEMICS - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2

  1. Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last two semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters

  2. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2
