PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher Women's Track and Field team traveled to Nazareth to compete in the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up. The meet took place on Friday and was hosted by Nazareth College.
On the Track
The meet began with
Ciarra Franz placing first in the 60m hurdles, with a time of 9.13.
Hayly Fredrickson also qualified for the finals, running 10.35 to place eighth.
Lily Rexford also claimed a top-ten finish, running 10.61 to take 10
th place overall. In the final, Franz ran 9.06 to place 1
st overall and further her lead atop the Empire 8 leader board. Fredrickson ran 10.71, placing 6
th overall.
The Cardinals continued their success into the 60m, with
Samantha Shea placing first in the qualifying round, running 7.85, moving her up to first on the E8 leaderboard.
Zhane Lettsome also had a strong race, running 8.04 to place fifth and advance to the finals. Not far behind, was
Michaela Kurbs, running 8.10 to place seventh and move to the finals. In the final, Shea ran away with the top finish, running 7.76, her new best performance. Lettsome placed 6
th with a time of 8.09 and Kurbs placed 8
th with a time of 8.17.
Later on, in the 200m, Grace Wright claimed 8
th place with a time of 27.36. Nearly identical was
Isabelle Rowley, running 27.39 to place 9
th overall.
At the Field
Starting out on the field, was the weight throw, which saw
Makenna King take 9
th overall with a throw of 13.40m.
In the long jump,
Veronica Duell had a strong performance, taking 2
nd with a jump of 5.52m. Kurbs took ninth, jumping 5.12m.
In the high jump,
Claudia Vogel jumped 1.47m, placing 5
th overall.
The shot put saw King take 5
th overall, with a throw of 11.68m. Not far behind, was
Erin McGuinness, throwing 11.63m and moving up to third on the E8 leader board.
Next up for the Cardinals is the Empire 8 Championship. The Championship will be hosted by Nazareth College and will take place on Friday, Feb 24., and Saturday, Feb 25.
