PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's tennis team overcame the odds over the weekend to secure the no. 4 seed in the Empire 8 Women's Tennis Championship. The Cardinals defeated Houghton University, 9-0, on Saturday and went into Sunday scoreboard watching. The received the help they needed and earn the no. 4 seed in the tournament.

Kathryn Strait and
Maddy Langley were the duo that opened up the winning with a 8-4 victory. The team of
Abby Garvey and
Eliana Kelly continued the momentum with an 8-0 win, before Madison and Galvin and
Lilly Renzi cruised to an 8-1 duos win. All but Kelly, also competed in singles matches and all won in straight sets.
Lilly Miller was the sixth Cardinals to compete in the singles matches and won 6-0, 6-1. The win moves Fisher's Record to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
