PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's soccer team will look for continued success in Empire 8 play this week, heading to Houghton on Wednesday, Oct. 11, before hosting Hartwick for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 14.
 
The Cardinals are currently 3-0-1 in conference play and 4-4-3 overall. This past week, they edged Alfred, 4-3, in a Wednesday home game before beating Utica on Saturday, 3-0. Fisher is currently second in the Empire 8 standings, a point behind Elmira. The top six teams in the conference qualify for the E8 tournament, set to start Oct. 28. 
 
Wednesday's road contest has kickoff set for 7:00 p.m., while the Saturday game against Hartwick is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
 
Life of Riley (Rease): Junior Riley Rease earned Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week honors last week after scoring eight points (three goals, two assists), including a two-goal game in the win over Alfred. 
 
Know Your History: The Cardinals beat Houghton 5-1 last season. Overall, they are 6-4-2 against the Highlanders since 2005 and haven't lost to them since September of 2016. 
 
Fisher has a shorter history against Hartwick, with only three games played between the two since 2005. The Cardinals have won all three, including a 2-1 win on Hartwick's home pitch last season. 
 
Player to Watch: Fifth-year student Tim Brown stands tied for the team lead in goals after he found the net in both games last week. Generally a defender, his three scores this year are his first as a Cardinal.
