Men's Soccer Season Ends With Playoff Loss to Brockport

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Adam Grover gave St. John Fisher University an early lead from the penalty spot, but the Cardinals' season came to an end Saturday with a 2-1 postseason loss to Brockport at Growney Stadium.

How It Happened

Parker Stusek made his first save on a Brockport header in the fourth minute. After that, Fisher controlled much of the opening stretch, with chances from Grover, Rien Pacaro and Carter Lenahan inside the first 16 minutes.

The pressure paid off in the 18th minute. Grover stepped up and converted a penalty kick at 17:25 to put the Cardinals ahead 1-0.

Brockport answered at 30:46 to tie it at 1-1. Fisher kept pushing before the break, with Grover and Colin Guilfoyle both getting shots off, and the Cardinals went into halftime even after outshooting the Golden Eagles 7-5 in the first 45 minutes.

The Golden Eagles took control after the break, holding an 8-0 shot advantage and winning five corners in the second half. Stusek kept it level with a save in the 59th minute. Brockport broke through at 64:09 for the go-ahead goal.

Fisher won corners in the 76th and 83rd minutes as it looked for an equalizer. Stusek made another stop in the 82nd minute to keep the Cardinals within one, but the visitors held on.
