PITTSFORD, NY – The St. John Fisher University women's field hockey team will play two games at home this week. They will take on Keuka College in an Empire 8 matchup on Wednesday, Sept. 21 before facing Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Sunday, Sep. 24.
The Cardinals have begun their season at 0-5. The Wolves won their first game on Saturday, improving their record to 1-5 on the season. Meanwhile, RPI has started their campaign with a 4-3 record, including a three-game win streak that ended on Sunday.
Last Matchups: The last time the Cardinals met the Wolves was Oct. 13 of last season, when sophomore forward
Molly Fisher came into the game as a substitute and scored two of the four Cardinal goals on six shots on target. Fisher ranks second on the team in points with four, behind teammates Emily Cooper,
Audrey Grieb, and
Gianna Palma, who each have five points.
The last time the Cardinals competed against RPI was in 2014.
Super Cooper: Cooper has delivered this season, ranking first on the team in goals (2) and points (5), and second in SOG (6), SH% (.333) and assists (1).
In comparison, the sophomore played in 19 games last season, scoring four goals. In just five games this season, she has half of last year's total, with two.
Player to Watch: Junior goalkeeper,
Sophia Trozzi, shut the Wolves out last time the Cardinals took on Keuka. It was one of her eight shutouts last year. Trozzi has 13 in her career and will be looking for her first of the season this week. In the young campaign, Trozzi already has 40 saves.
