Women’s Tennis Impress Over The Weekend

PITSSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's tennis team competed twice over the weekend and won both matches. It started on Friday with a 6-3 victory over SUNY Geneseo and it ended with a 5-4 win over Oswego State. The Cardinals move to 3-0 on the season after the victories. 
 
Fisher 6 – Geneseo 3
 
On Friday, the success began by winning two of the three doubles matches. Eliana Kelly and Madison Galvin won their match 8-6 and the combination of Megan McMichael and Lilly Renzi dominated in theirs, winning 8-0.
 
After dropping the first singles match, Abby Garvey, Kelly, Galvin and Renzi all won their matches. Garvey lost the first set but won the second 6-3 and the third 10-5. Kelly was victorious in her first and third set and Galvin was impressive in consecutive sets, losing just one game. Renzi was equally impressive in her singles match, winning back-to-back sets 6-1 and 6-2.
 
Fisher 5 – Oswego 4
 
On Sunday, the Cardinals faced their first deficit but were clutch in their singles matches. The day started with doubles matches and Fisher won 2-of-3. Galvin and Kelly won 8-3 and Tia Buttino and Riley Ellis defeated the Lakers 8-6.
 
Fisher dropped the first two singles matches in competitive fashion, but Kelly, Galvin and Renzi won their matches convincingly to secure the victory. Kelly won her sets 6-3, 6-0, Galvin was victorious in consecutive sets as well, 6-4, 6-0. Finally, Renzi was dominant winning back-to-back sets 6-0, 6-1.
